We, the undersigned, would like to protest at the decision of Portsmouth City Council to offer the pitch by Southsea Common (opposite the Queens Hotel) to a new vendor. Little Coffee Southsea have provided excellent community service since opening and has a large number of regulars who enjoy seeing the same friendly faces each day. Little Coffee Southsea have worked tirelessly to maintain social distancing while supporting local people, dog walkers, runners, cyclists etc.
Unlike many Southsea cafes, Little Coffee Southsea open early at
7am weekdays and they were even serving coffee and free mince pies
to the community on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Little
Coffee Southsea deserve loyalty from Portsmouth City Council for
their dedication to its residents and shouldn’t be forced to
leave when they are so loved by all.

Thank you for the time you have taken to organise and submit a petition to Portsmouth City Council regarding the concession Little Coffee Southsea. This petition has now ended and it received 144 signatures in total. I can confirm that this is below the minimum number of signatures needed to trigger an option to move it forward to a decision meeting or full Council, meeting for debate.
However, we have investigated the issues you have raised and can confirm that a full and proper process was carried out in regards to the procurement for a concession on the site currently occupied by Little Coffee Southsea during autumn 2020. The decision to award concessions is not one which is taken lightly and it is one through which we ensure all bidders are treated in accordance with procurement best practice.
I can confirm that feedback on their unsuccessful application was provided directly to Little Coffee. They have subsequently bid in through a further procurement process, which offered out additional sites, and they have been successful in securing an alternative Southsea location from which they will be trading in the near future.
We are aware that a number of the seafront concessions have
continued to operate throughout the different lock down periods
providing high quality service to support the many users of the
seafront. There role in supporting the wellbeing of their customers
is appreciated and we are sure that Little Coffee will continue to
provide good customer service going forwards.
