Granting of the Freedom of the City on Alan Knight MBE That in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972:-
(i) The City Council wishes to record its gratitude and appreciation to Alan Knight MBE, former Portsmouth Football Club goalkeeper. With 801 appearances, Alan holds the world record for the most appearances for a single club as a goalkeeper. Since retiring from professional football, he has spent 24 years donating his time to local charitable causes. The City Council therefore believes that Alan Knight MBE's extraordinary achievements both on and off the pitch justly deserve him being bestowed with the highest award that City Council can confer, the Freedom of the City of Portsmouth.
(ii) This resolution be produced and sealed with the common seal for presentation; and
(iii) Arrangements be made for the presentation of this resolution and the formal admission to the Freedom of the City. |

Granting of the Freedom of the City on the Joint Hospital Group (South) That in pursuance of Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972:-
(i) The City Council wishes to record its expression of gratitude to the Joint Hospital Group (South) for their splendid achievements in the service of this country and for their long and valued association with the City of Portsmouth, by conferring upon the unit the highest award that the City Council can bestow, the Freedom of the City of Portsmouth.
(ii) This resolution be produced and sealed with the common seal for presentation; and
(iii) Arrangements be made for the presentation of this resolution and the formal admission to the Freedom of the City. |
