Systems intervention in substance misuse pdf icon PDF 711 KB

Purpose.

To provide an overview of work completed over the last year aimed at improving

substance misuse services provided from the Recovery Hub and the outcomes achieved to date.

 

RECOMMENDED that the Cabinet Membe for Health, Wellbeing & Social Care note the report.

Minutes:

Jason Horsley, Director of Public Health, Portsmouth and Southampton and Alan Knobel, Development Manager introduced the report.

 

Anna Jackson, Service Manager Society of St James explained that the new method of management thinking was key to the successful implementation.  Managers had been involved in designing measures to better understand the service and improve the experience for service users.

 

Mike Taylor, Director Society of St James was present but did not wish add to the discussion.

 

In response to a question, Alan Knobel explained that the savings from previous years had been used to cover the costs of implementing this system.

 

Councillor Winnington was pleased with the outcome of the intervention and noted that the new service was more user-friendly.  He also observed that the increased capacity would lead to savings for other services.

 

DECISION

The report systems intervention in substance misuse was noted.
