Purpose of the Report

The purpose of this report is to provide an update on the adoption of the Portsmouth Bus Passenger Charter as part of the Enhanced Bus Partnership.

Paul Walker, National Bus Strategy Delivery Manager, presented his information only report and advised that the purpose of the report was to provide an update on the adoption of the Portsmouth Bus Passenger Charter as part of the Enhanced Bus Partnership.

 

Members' questions

In relation to Members' questions, officers clarified:

 

·         Feedback from the bus companies would be shared with Members.

 

·         There is an annual reporting mechanism through the Passenger Charter and also through the announced partnership for the Bus Service Improvement Plan.  Both bus operators have agreed to work together on driver recruitment, also with the Solent Apprenticeship and Skills Hub to promote apprenticeships and bus driver recruitment and other skills.

 

·         Officers noted the recent announcement that First Bus will be creating an electric bus hub on the site of the old Portsmouth News centre.
