Purpose

To seek approval from the Cabinet Member to pay early years providers additional funding in the form of a grant in order to support the sustainability of the market. This would apply to providers who offered funded early years provision for two, three and four year olds during the first national lockdown.

 

RECOMMENDED

It is recommended that the Cabinet Member approves the proposed grant values to be paid in the spring term 2021 subject to the forecast year end position as set out in Table 1.

Councillor Horton said that anything that could be done to help the early years sector through this difficult time would be welcomed. Cllr Horton also said that she was really pleased that there was an opportunity to give a second grant and that they were able to make it happen.

 

Cllr Smith added that the feedback she had received had been welcomed and that Portsmouth City Council should be congratulated as officers for a really good report. Cllr Horton explained that this would go a long way and would help a lot of people.

 

DECISIONS: The Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education:
