The report by the Director of Regeneration provides an update on progress made with the Department for Transport’s Transforming Cities Fund and recommends that arrangements are put in place to enable joint working with Hampshire County Council on the development and delivery of schemes.

 

RECOMMENDED that

(1) Progress on Tranche 1 of the Transforming Cities Fund bid for Portsmouth and the wider South East Hampshire Region is noted, with a further report on the programme, detailing progress towards Tranche 2 to be provided following further Government announcements;

(2) Authority be delegated to the Director of Regeneration, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Traffic and Transportation and S151 Officer, to agree contractual and other arrangements as necessary to facilitate joint working to develop a Strategic Outline Business Case for the Transforming Cities Fund with Hampshire County Council.

Minutes:

 

Felicity Tidbury, Transport Planning Manager, presented the report of the Director of Regeneration and was pleased to announce that the previous day Portsmouth City Council and Hampshire County Council had been awarded £2.64m for Tranche 1 of Transforming Cities Bid, £2.2m for Portsmouth schemes (Hampshire's £400k related to continuous routes real time information and to Rowner Bridge Rapid Transit link).  For Portsmouth the real time information would be used for key junction signal updates in Copnor, Fratton and for the Eastern Road.  The package for the Tranche 2 bid was now being prepared.

 

Councillor Chowdhury supported the recommendations.

 

Councillor Stagg, as Cabinet Member, was pleased by this good news and thanked Felicity Tidbury for her work that had led to the bid being successful.
