Minutes:

(TAKE IN REPORT)

The report was introduced by Claire Looney, Partnership and Commissioning Manager.

Councillor Symes said that the events team are doing fantastic work and have delivered a third more events across the city which has helped to boost the income for the city.  Councillor Hunt said that it was important that events are not only held on the seafront and was pleased that more events are taking place in the north of the city.

In response to questions officers clarified the following points:

·         Officers look at all assets across the city to host events and consider how to make the best use of these whilst being sensitive to heritage assets.

·         Volunteering is a key part of the events delivery.  The Great South Run has over 1,000 volunteers as do many of the other large scale events in the city.
