Purpose of report

To inform the Cabinet Member on this year's Summer Reading Challenge, delivered by the Library and Archive Service and to give provisional participation figures.

The report was introduced by David Percival, Outreach and School Library Service Manager.  He advised that 1,414 children completed the Challenge this year which was a small increase on last year. 

 

In response to a question from Councillor Morgan about academy schools, David advised that his team work with both maintained schools and academies.  There have been a handful of schools that were missed and councillors suggested to David that if the team have a lack of response from any schools they might be able to assist.  

 

Members were very pleased with the outcome of this year's Reading challenge and commended officers on their great work.
