Dog Bins Please North End

We the undersigned petition the council to (1000 characters): Please please please can we introduce some dog bins to the area.

I moved to North End last year and can't believe the amount of dog poo I am having to constantly dodge. I seem to come across a new do do almost every few metres. Not only is it not nice but it can be very hard to dodge with a push chair. I am either cleaning the wheels or popping on to the road quickly which is ridiculous. I used to love running but have had to put that on hold until the lighter evenings return as again I am cleaning it off my shoes.

I am end of terrace and my alley way fills up regularly with poops in a bag. The owners have taken care to pick it up but simply have no where to put it. I also regularly pass them on the pavement.

This is a very heavily built up area with a lot of dog owners please can we introduce some bins to the area?

Council response

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately there are only a limited number of dog bins that can be put in place under the Highways contract. If one becomes available through re-location for example, then this area may be considered as an alternative location. Portsmouth City Council have a dedicated enforcement team to tackle dog fouling offences; any information that can be passed onto them would be very useful and may help catch the offenders.

(It may be of use to know that any of Portsmouth's general litter bins can be used for dog waste also.)
