Welcome and Introductions The Chair to welcome everyone to the meeting and to introduce new members appointed by Portsmouth City Council and those standing in for absent members.
Following the Cabinet meeting held on 9th June 2016 the following members comprise of the Group D (Local Authority) committee.

Secondary RE News Letter SACRE are asked to consider whether it wishes to continue funding the Secondary RE News Letter, provided by Hampshire Inspection and Advisory Service (HIAS) for another year.
It is recommended that SACRE provides its decision on the matter. |

Linda Jacobs (Professional Adviser) to give an update on Ofsted inspection visits to Portsmouth's School.

Report from the Professional Adviser A Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) has a statutory remit to advise the Local Authority on Religious Education to be given in accordance with an agreed syllabus and to support the effective provision of collective worship. A SACRE also has within its powers to discuss any matter related to its functions as it sees fit and may therefore include the provision of RE in Academies in its discussions or address such matters as may be referred to it. An Academy or group of academies can be represented though co-option onto the local SACRE (or indeed any SACRE) if all parties are in agreement.
Linda Jacobs (Professional Adviser) shall table a report at the meeting.

Draft Annual Report 2015/16 and Work Programme Linda Jacobs (Professional Adviser) shall present and table a draft of the Portsmouth SACRE's Annual Report 2015/16 and Work Programme.
It is recommended that SACRE members feedback their views in writing, of the draft Annual Report 2015/16 and Work Programme to either the Professional Adviser/Clerk so that both can be finalised and formally approved at a future meeting.

New (revised) Religious Education Syllabus - sub-committee Steering Group The next ASC (Agreed Syllabus Conference) will be considering and may approve the newly revised Religious Education Agreed Syllabus in the autumn of 2016. A SACRE statutory requirement of which Portsmouth is working with Southampton and Hampshire through HIAS to produce.
SACRE members are therefore asked to consider the creation of a SACRE sub-committee (Revised Syllabus Steering Group) for the purposes leading on the launch of the Revised Syllabus (if approved).
It is recommended (1) that a SACRE sub-committee (Revised Syllabus Steering Group (2) that one representative (and nominated deputy) from each group be appointed together with the Professional Adviser and/or the Chairman and Vice-chairman |

Date and venue of the next meeting SACRE members are asked to agree the date of the next meeting of SACRE and the ASC (Agreed Syllabus Conference)
The previous date of 5 October 2016, cannot be attended by the presenting HIAS adviser. SACRE are therefore asked to select one of the following replacement meeting dates:
· Thursday 6 October 2016 or · Monday 10 October 2016 (at 4:30pm)
Note: The statutory meeting of Agreed Syllabus Conference must be quorate.
It is recommended that SACRE confirm which date of the two options the ASC shall take place (to be followed by an ordinary meeting of SACRE). |
