The EDCL Scrutiny Panel's final report on their review of 'Revitalising local high streets and secondary shopping areas in the city' is to follow and will be made available at the meeting.

This is due to be officially signed off by the panel at this meeting for onward submission to the next available Cabinet meeting.

RECOMMENDED that the EDCL Scrutiny Panel sign-off their report to conclude this review.

Minutes:

The draft report had been made available on the website that day, to show on the agenda page for the meeting, and the panel members had received earlier drafts.  The final version of the report included the Chair's preface, the legal, finance and equalities comments.

Councillor Winnington, Vice-chair, had expressed his full support for the adoption of the report.  Steve Baily, Director of  Culture & City Development, had also sent his apologies for absence but had indicated that he was already keen to take forward the aims of the review within his remit, as indicated within the recommendations.

Barry Walker was in attendance from Town Centre Management and Traders' Representatives from Albert Road, Jennie Catlow and Sue McCombie asked about a derelict property in Albert Road which was on the radar of the Eyesores Working Party, which Councillor Hunt undertook to take up with Bruce Lomax as Chair of the EWP.

The panel members were satisfied with the final report and the recommendations which reflected their discussions at their informal meeting held on 26 February.  This would then be forwarded to the next available Cabinet meeting in the new municipal year.

RESOLVED that the panel sign off their report 'Revitalising Local High Streets and Secondary Shopping Areas in the City'.
