Bandstand 2017 Evaluation Report & 2018 Proposals pdf icon PDF 113 KB

Purpose of report

To provide an evaluation of the delivery of the Live at the Bandstand programme 2017 to inform the way forward for 2018.

RECOMMENDED

Minutes:

TAKE IN REPORT)

The report was introduced by Claire Looney, Partnership & Commissioning Manager.

Councillor Symes said that there had been some complaints received about the Rhythm of the 90s event but felt on balance this should remain on Castle Field as long as the necessary measures are in place as agreed with the police.

In response to a question from Councillor Morgan, the Partnership & Commissioning Manager said the bandstand is in a very exposed location so if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or if there are any emergency works to the seafront they will use social media along with corporate communications to notify the public.  Councillor Symes added that this has worked very well in the past.

DECISION: The Cabinet Member authorised officers to contract out the delivery of the Bandstand programme 2018 to an organisation with good links with local promoters who will plan, oversee and deliver all elements of the 2018 programme of free music events on the seafront.
